One of the items at the top of our legislative agenda is reforming Pennsylvania’s public education system. The information I am providing here presents details on each of the pending reform proposals including school vouchers, or opportunity scholarships, expanding the Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) program, and charter and cyber charter schools.

Education Forum

Rep. Sheryl Delozier and I recently hosted a town hall meeting in Hampden Township on education reform. Guests on both sides of these complex issues presented their arguments and then took questions from the audience. Panelists included representatives from the League of Women Voters of Pennsylvania, the Education Law Center of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Coalition of Public Charter Schools, the Pennsylvania State Education Association, the American Civil Liberties Union of Pennsylvania, Pugliese Associates and the Commonwealth Foundation.

Please click on the link below to view a video of the town hall meeting. Please note that only the second half of the program is available due to a power outage that occurred at the start of the event. The first speaker you will see is Pennsylvania Secretary of Education Ron Tomalis. That is followed by questions from the audience.
